Pest Bird Species - Egyptian Goose
There can be no doubt that the Egyptian Goose is possibly one of the most beautifully coloured large birds that we will see in the urban environment.....that is until 4 a.m. on a summer morning when Mr. Goose is on your chimney talking loudly to Mrs. Goose three blocks away, or when you are about to retrieve your ball on the 18th green only to find it buried in a pile of ......well nice folks don't use those words!
The other thing they love, is to swim, and guess where they love to do it? Your pool of course, and they also think of it as their personal W.C., which plays havoc with your new marbelite surface. It's also not nice to see your kids sliding across the grass after stepping into a pile of.......you guessed it.
In terms of health and commercial situations, we get almost no queries about this bird, but domestically and on golf courses, it's a problem.
Add to this the facts that they are omnivorous, have no natural enemies and can produce up to 20 young in a clutch, and you can assume that the problem is set to grow.
